Polymer Ohio has renewed its partnership agreement with the United Shippers Alliance (USA), a nonprofit shippers association based in Dublin, OH, to continue providing volume freight pricing for our members. There is no cost for shippers to join USA, but as members you are able to obtain quality transportation services at a lower cost than individually available to them. USA has been leveraging volume rates/discounts and service contracts for its members since 1996.
Three member programs are available: Import/export ocean full container load, export LCL and domestic LTL. Members are free to select the programs they want to utilize and the percentage of their business they want to ship through USA. |

Appearing in a recent edition of the TV news show, 21st Century Business, hosted by General Alexander Haig, Nanofilm president and CEO, Dr. Scott Rickert pointed out that nanotechnology is a “less-and-more” dynamo for our emerging century – less waste, more smarts.
“At Nanofilm, we have been commercializing nano-coatings since shortly after we founded the company,” says Rickert. “Our technology portfolio solves customers’ problems where optically clear, thin (nanometers to microns) coatings, self-assembling nano-layers or nanocomposites are required.” Nanofilm is engineering coatings at the molecular level. |

One good thing about the down-tick economy of 2008 and beyond is that outsourcing to overseas locations became less attractive as a business model. As the financial melt-down affected the U.S., other parts of the world felt its pinch, too. So when a polymer manufacturing company halted its plan to go offshore to the Middle East, two enterprising businessmen in the U.S. decided to buy the equipment that had already been shipped overseas and find a stateside location to set up their own venture.
Polymera, Inc. was founded in 2010 by Maan Said, who serves as President, and Herb Hutchison, who is Vice President/General Manager. “We were in a situation that was the exact reverse of typical offshoring,” said Hutchison. “A company had intended to take advantage of the low-cost labor in the Middle East, and then scrapped its plans. There were 47 containers of equipment shipped over there – that’s about 850,000 pounds,” he said. “We decided that here was an opportunity to buy almost everything we needed to start a very modern plant and all we needed was a place to do business.” |
