The parent company of Green Line Polymers acquired the parent company of Champion Polymer Recycling in a purchase valued at over $1 billion. Hilliard, Ohio-headquartered Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS) bought Old Saybrook, Conn.-based Infiltrator Water Technologies (IWT) for $1.08 billion, according to a press release.

We seem to be getting better at making things that aren’t real appear real. From Beyond Meat to porcelain tiles that effectively mimic marble, these reproductions sometimes offer benefits that improve on the real deal. Producing meatless meat is better for the environment, while porcelain tile is more durable than marble.

The lunar lander that took Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin to the moon 50 years ago needed to be strong, safe and lightweight. On July 20, 1969, when the Apollo 11 team successfully stepped onto the lunar surface, plastics and other strong, lightweight materials helped make it happen — often not alone, but in combination with rubber, aluminum, other metals and high-tech fabrics.
