Millions Awarded to University of Akron for Polymer Studies
The University of Akron’s College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering (CPSPE) is the recipient of approximately $4 million in federal grants, coming at a time when university trustees have approved investments in “key areas of strength and opportunity.” These key areas include the polymer and chemical sciences. The federal funds will be used for such studies as the creation of synthetic colors based on the arrangement of melanin particles in bird feathers and overcoming mechanical weaknesses in 3D printed plastics, among others.
