University of Akron Hosts Polymer Appreciation Day
No college is more dedicated to Ohio’s polymer industry than the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering (CPSPE) at The University of Akron. So it stands to reason that CPSPE organizes and hosts the “Polymers Appreciation Day for Alumni and Industry”.
Scheduled for May 12, 2017, this one-day symposium will celebrate the achievements of CPSPE alumni and students as well as provide an excellent opportunity for any company within the polymer industry to network with faculty, students, and the global Akron polymer community.
The agenda for the Polymers Appreciation Day includes awards presented to students and alumni, and talks by students, alumni and industry speakers. The alumni receiving the inaugural College Alumni Award is Dr. Frank N. Kelley, Dean Emeritus of CPSPE. The winner of the DPE Distinguished Alumni Award is Ms. Rochelle Woods, President of Rochelle A. Woods, LLC. Dr. Christopher Li, Professor at Drexel University Soft Materials, is the winner of the DPS Distinguished Alumni Award.
Awards and speakers aren’t the only happenings at the symposium. Companies in the polymer industry are being invited to display their business information free-of-charge on a table-top display during the reception. According to the symposium’s web page, “This is a great opportunity to make graduating students aware of career opportunities and to find synergies with faculty researchers.”
In addition to the opportunity to promote your company and network with others in the industry, CPSPE is also offering to create research quad chart sets (collections of concise summaries of ongoing research) on topics tailored to your company’s needs. They will then upload the quad sets to the free USB flash drive that will be given to you during registration.
